{"id":14,"date":"2023-02-06T20:49:36","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T20:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/perfumer21stc.co.uk\/?p=14"},"modified":"2023-02-06T20:58:55","modified_gmt":"2023-02-06T20:58:55","slug":"rabbit-ear-aldehyde","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/perfumer21stc.co.uk\/?p=14","title":{"rendered":"Rabbit Ear Aldehyde\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A while ago there was an article on LinkedIn discussing the removal of butylphenyl methylpropional and hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC) from the Perfumers&#8217; Palette due to regulations, and the use of floral pyranol, as one of the aroma chemicals that can be used instead to create a lily of the valley note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there was mentioned in this article, &#8220;rabbit ear aldehyde&#8221; and as I&#8217;m a chemist as well as a perfumer, I&#8217;d love to know what molecule this relates to. It is presumably another lily note. Could it be cyclamen aldehyde, because that has a structure such that in it&#8217;s molecular diagram, the carbons and the branching are a &#8220;Y&#8221; shape? Indeed cyclohexanemethanol, 4-(1-methylethyl)-, cis- (CAS no. 5502-75-0) also has this feature as part of its structure. Or are they talking about the floral pyranol itself in this way, as &#8220;Rabbit Ear Aldehyde&#8221;? I would love to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I haven&#8217;t been able to find out definitively, it is a translation from another language, anyway, I love the name and the idea.
